Extract from the Musicians Union
Today saw the first day of the MU Delegate Conference 2021, which for the first time ever is being held largely online due to the pandemic.
Despite the unusual set up, motions were moved as passionately as ever and delegates had the opportunity to ask questions about the work of the MU over the past two years.
The first motion passed asked the MU to publish more webinars on its website, which is something that we have already been looking into and agree would be a great addition to training for members.
Other motions passed today included expanding the MU maternity/paternity grant for multiple births, campaigning for a Universal Basic Income, the promotion of music education, refurbishing existing venues, and creating best practice guidance for engaging support acts.
